ANDERSON PUSHING FOR FINAL $1.6 MILLION TO SEAL OFF RANGARI ROAD FUNDING

Plans for a smoother, safer Rangari Road are well underway following an initial $10.4 million funding allocation to seal this important link for our region.

While this funding was a great start, it was identified that a further $1.6 million is required to completely seal the 19 kilometre stretch of road.

Early works have been underway for some time through Tamworth Regional Council with preliminary planning, survey, concept design and geotechnical investigation and pavement design already being completed.

The procurement of culverts, land acquisition, detailed design and tender documents are all well underway with the bulk of construction expected to begin in January 2022.

Member for Tamworth Kevin Anderson said he was excited to see a shovels hit the ground and has begun the hunt for $1.6 million to cap off the project.

“Rangari Road is a bone shaker and a tyre tester. That is why I committed to sealing the road in 2019.

“This is an important road, not only for those who live on the road, but for the miners, Ag workers and families who use the road every day to get from point A to B.

“$10.4 million has already been allocated by the NSW Government and I am pushing for another $1.6 million to cap off the project and get it done.

“Rangari Road will soon provide safe journeys to the families, freight operators and workers who use the road well into the future.”

Tamworth Regional Council is currently in the process of procuring supplies and putting the works out to tender, creating jobs late this year and into 2021.
