Attunga’s Biggest Morning Tea

Attunga Public School P & C Association can boast presenting the Cancer Council with a cheque for $539 following a very successful Australia’s Biggest Morning Tea held at the school on the final day of last term.

P & C secretary Jess Hogan said that the morning was made even more special with all students joining in the school’s ritual of dressing up for the last day of the school term.

“For a gold coin, the students could even get their hair sprayed different colours, and they really enjoyed that,” she said.

“The children normally get involved in the cooking when we have fundraisers, but due to Covid, that was done by parents. All our P & C members really pitched in and made a great day of it. And the feedback we’ve had has been fantastic – people saying it was a lovely day, very relaxing, a nice atmosphere with plenty of lovely food.”

Pleasant feedback though didn’t only come from the locals in attendance, according to Jess.

“We were very humbled to read one particular comment on Facebook.”

That Facebook comment read “Huge Thumbs Up to this beautiful little school community giving back. We popped in and supported Attunga Public School Cancer Council Australia Biggest Morning Tea fundraiser today. What a deligtful little family the school is. It was beautiful to see all the kids participating and dressed up raising valuable funds and a lovely social gathering all Covid safe. Thanks. Scones were delicious. Well done to the organisers”.

Jess said that she’d been at the school for three years now, and the 2021 Cancer Council morning tea may have been the first one for the school.

“Mrs Worley (Principal) received an email inviting the school to participate, so we put the idea to our P & C meeting who were all in favour of holding one. There are probably very few within the school who haven’t been affected by Cancer in some way or another. It was so successful, and sure to be an annual event for us now,” Jess said. By Vinnie Todd
