Never before seen crowds were recorded on all three days of this years Manilla Show. The new digital ticketing allowing the use of the Discover/Parent NSW Vouchers proved to be popular with vouchers used by two thirds by people for gate entries. The NSW vouchers were mainly used for three day entry passes to the show and people came to watch the great line up of entertainment the show had on offer starting on Friday night with the announcement of the 2022 Young Woman Competition result, congratulations to winner Miss Emily McDonald and Runner up
Miss Rosie Ferguson. The Aussie FMX Riders pulled in an enormous crowd and thrilled audience with their motorbike mid air stunts using a large ramp. Then the amazing ProTen fireworks display let everyone know the show was on. Rob Breese and his band entertained the crowd until late.
The Free Kids Zone on Saturday saw many families entertained with Troppo Bob and his Magic Show, Fizzic Education doing fun scienceshows, My Pet Dinosaur and digging for fossils and World of Wildlife Encounters and their Reptile Show . The Rising Stars dancers also did Performances in the Kids Zone. Inside the big Kids Zone tent were fun toys and actives and a very talented face painter. Thank you to the CWA Sundowner group for supervising this very busy area.
Across the way from the Kids Zone was the Yard Dog Competition showing off their very impressive new sheep yards. Not having beg and borrow yards form different people and return them has now enabled the Show Society to expand this event into a two day competition, strong entries were recorded over the two days. Thank you to Steward Dom Price and his helpers and M&M Stockyards in the setting up of the manufactured M&M Stockyards. Gerald and Lucy Gallagher for supplying the sheep over the two days and Dougal Geddes for Transport.
At the Official Opening of the 2022 Show , Kevin Anderson MP presented Life Membership to Teena Bridge for her many years of dedication to the Manilla show , 26 years as Ringmaster . Councillor Marc Sutherland wore two hats representing Council and performing Welcome to Country.
Once again large crowds started to build to watch the Gill Bros. Rodeo. At the interval of the Rodeo the Dinosaur Race made a return visit and the Calcutta of Riders took place, thank you to Michael Purtle for using his great auctioneering skills.
The Pavilion had pleasing entries that were abled to be displayed in the new display cabinets and viewed by the general public for the first time as last year show was online only.
Sunday saw record breaking number of horse entries that saw the show ground parking at full capacity with horse trailer and floats.
The Show is a true community event where we all pull and come together. Manilla Central High School students came down to the show on Friday and did an amazing job helping with the Pavilion and without your assistance we couldn’t do it. They stayed on the watch with the other schools and pre-schools the Aussie FMX Riders Exhibition for school children only before the show opened up to the general public on Friday. We thank the many organisations that help with the running of the show, manning gates, food stalls, entering events, running sections and our major and individual sponsors with out your help we couldn’t put on a show, thank you.
The Show Society has a small but hard working committee. We welcome new members and thank the new younger members that have stepped up to help with the running of the show or have taken on steward jobs.
And now… we start planning the 2023 Show.
