Tamworth Regional Council is calling on the community to nominate residents who are making a positive difference locally, with nominations now open for the 2022 Australia Day Awards.
The Awards recognise the efforts of individuals and groups who make an outstanding contribution to their local community, and are a celebration of residents who are dedicated to their community and helping others.
This past year with Covid-19 restrictions has seen a lot of things not happening however an Award may be presented to an eligible resident who has made noteworthy contribution during the past 12 months (2021 calendar year), or has given outstanding service to the community over a number of years.
An Award may be presented for a community event held in Manilla or Barraba which had a significant community impact or involvement of the community,
Awards will not be granted posthumously.
• Barraba – Citizen of the Year, Community Event of the Year and the Frank Darlington Young Achiever Award;
• Manilla – Young Citizen of the Year, Community Event of the Year, Citizen of the Year and Achiever of the Year;
Nomination forms can be found on Council’s website http://www.tamworth.nsw.gov.au/2022AustraliaDayAwards and Council’s offices in Barraba and Manilla. Nominations close at 4 pm on Wednesday 8 December, 2021.
Whilst people are encouraged to use the online forms the Manilla Express will have some paper forms available and will help people with the online forms as well as the girls from the Manilla TRC Office offering assistance.
The awards for Barraba, Manilla and Tamworth will all be presented at official ceremonies across the region on Australia Day, 26 January, 2022.
Manilla’s Australia Day committee plan to do something different for the 2022 Australia Day Awards by holding a breakfast ceremony in Pioneer Park leaving the rest of the day open for people spend to rest of the day as they see fit.
Manilla’s Australia Day committee encourages people to nominate members of the community or groups keeping in mind that people who have previously been nominated and have not won an award are still eligible to be nominated again.
